Select

Every June and November, TFA holds tryouts to determine which players display the ability to play Select soccer. Through the tryout process, TFA will field as many Select teams as we feel can compete in the select leagues throughout the region. TFA also evaluates the number of qualified staff members we have when determining how many teams to field. Select soccer is a Fall and Spring commitment starting in early August ending in November and then it gears back up again in early March through early June.
 

Through the tryout process, the highest-level players are selected to the Elite Team(s). U8 through U10 Elite teams usually play in the highest division in the Cincinnati United Select League (CUSL). U11 and older Elite teams usually play in the Buckeye Premier Youth League (BPYSL) or The Premier League (TPL). Those players who fall shy of making an Elite team but still demonstrate superior skills, athleticism and knowledge of the game are placed on the Premier level teams. These teams may also play in the highest level of CUSL or play in the BPYSL or TPL. All other players who demonstrate the ability to play in CUSL are placed on teams where they are ranked according to ability. These are our select level teams and the cost and level of commitment is usually a bit lower than Elite and Premier levels. However, these teams can still compete at a high level and receive training and or coaching from our TFA staff.
 

Any player who is evaluated during tryouts and found not to be ready for the Select program are then welcome to sign up for the TFA Harrison SAY program.
